Dust Bunnies Beware!

Over the last few months we here at Save A Dollar, started to experiment with new cleaning tools. We definitely see the merit in using the traditional sponge and duster, however, we like to try new tools in the quest to find “THE ONE.” You know what we mean? That one perfect cleaning tool that makes the job easier to handle and brings joy to your heart *cue angelic music*. Recently, we stumbled across the Libman Wonder Mop while perusing the cleaning section at a local K-mart (And no it did not have a cape but that would be pretty cool if it did!). Wanting to try out new tools we took a chance by purchasing the mop and bringing it along on our cleaning adventures. After using the Wonder Mop a few times we wanted to give a little review and our opinion on the mop’s functionality and overall durability.

Functionality: The Wonder Mop functions as any mop does by picking up dust, dirt, and debris commonly found on floors. Something that we noticed while using the mop was how good it is at attracting and removing dust. It was almost like a magnet for dust balls and other debris. The mop boasts the use of “extra-large microfiber gripstrips” that are able to pick up more dirt than a regular run of the mill yarn/straw mop. Another thing we noticed was how quickly the floor dried after using the mop. For those of you that mop, the worst part of moping is having to wait for the floor to dry and not being able to use that space. The attached power wringer removes more water from the microfiber mop head which results in a faster drying time.

Durability: Though we have not had the Wonder Mop for a long time, in the time since the initial purchase, we have used the mop quite often. Over the past few months, we have used the Wonder Mop in over a dozen spaces and we are pleased to report that there are no noticeable changes in the microfiber gripstrips. The power wringer and handle seem to be in great shape and thus far has not fallen apart due to normal wear and tear.

Lastly, like any mop, the Wonder Mop will remain wet after use and needs to be placed in a well-ventilated area where it can properly dry and not produce mold/mildew. It is best to leave the power wringer in an upright position instead of down to promote faster drying. If the power wringer is left down the microfiber gripstrips will not thoroughly dry and the next time it is used it is possible that there will be a strong mildew/mold odor. Overall, we really liked the Libman Wonder Mop and plan to make it a necessary tool in our cleaning army!
